Memorial day to honor the brave

A special day to reflect on those brave men and women who gave all…

At Liberty Cottage Design we love and support the military. Every Memorial day it’s very popular to gather with friends and family and light up the grill to barbeque, or head to the nearest beach. Buried underneath the festivities of food and drink are the souls we should never forget. Our country is free today because of some of the most courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The cost of freedom

I’m an avid reader of World War II fiction and nonfiction books. It never ceases to amaze me every time I read about the battle of Normandy known as D-day and those thousands of men (some even boys!) who embarked on those beaches knowing so many of them would perish. It’s a level of bravery and courage that amazes me and make me so grateful for what they did. All those soldiers were sons, brothers, friends and fathers, and their loss of life forever wounded their families and changed the course of history.

We live in a world unfortunately where wars continue to happen. I admire all the brave men and women who join our military knowing that they too may be asked to pay the ultimate price. In our fallen world, freedom from tyranny is never just given. So many have sacrificed their lives for their country to be free, and for that we should be forever grateful.

Bible verse for soldiers and wartime

I found this verse very powerful and meaningful for those who to go war. May those soldiers who have left us, be in everlasting peace with God.

Psalm 27:1-3, 13-14

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident…I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord ; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord .”

Remembering those we have lost

As America takes time to celebrate with family and friends this Memorial day, let’s keep the true meaning of this holiday close to our hearts. Let’s remember the courageous souls who paid the ultimate sacrifice and let’s remember the families they left behind and lift them up in our prayers. Have a safe Memorial day and as always, God bless America.
